How to Enjoy a Full Day at Hong Kong Disneyland

In my previous post, I shared how to get cheaper Hong Kong Disneyland tickets from Vietnam and gave a brief overview of Disneyland’s history and how the Hong Kong park came to be. But now, let’s dive straight into my full-day experience at Hong Kong Disneyland—what to see, what to ride, and how to make the most of your time there!
Getting to Hong Kong Disneyland
The journey begins with the MTR’s special Disneyland Resort Line—arguably the cutest subway ride you’ll ever take. Hop on at Sunny Bay Station, and you’ll be whisked away in a Mickey-themed train to Disneyland Resort Station, complete with Mickey Mouse windows and golden statues of Disney characters like Mickey, Donald Duck, and Pluto inside the carriages.
Stepping out of the station, you’ll immediately spot the grand entrance gate to Disneyland, decorated in cheerful green and whimsical Disney motifs. Some budget travelers ride this line just to take photos at the entrance without entering the park itself. There’s even a mini-park outside the ticket gate with plenty of fun photo spots!
What to Do in 1 Day at Hong Kong Disneyland
To maximize your day, prioritize your favorite attractions. Entry includes all rides and shows, but queues can be long—sometimes over an hour—so time management is key.
There are 7 themed lands to explore:
- Adventureland
- Fantasyland
- Grizzly Gulch
- Main Street, U.S.A.
- Mystic Point
- Tomorrowland
- Toy Story Land
Here are some of my favorite highlights to help you plan:
🚂 Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad – Fantasyland Station
Right at the entrance, you’ll see a beautiful flower bed shaped like Mickey Mouse and a vintage-style train waiting at the station. The railroad runs every 20 minutes from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, and offers a scenic mini-tour with greenery shaped into beloved Disney stories. It doesn’t loop the entire park, but it’s a charming intro!
📸 Meet Santa Goofy
It took me 45 minutes in line to get just one photo with Goofy, but totally worth it! After your photo, staff will give you a QR code to download the image (for a fee), but they’ll also gladly take a shot on your personal phone or camera for free—win!
🎄 Main Street, U.S.A.
Home to souvenir shops and seasonal decorations (I went during Christmas and it was magical). This is also where you’ll spot Disney characters according to schedule—like Captain America, Chip and Dale, Donald and Daisy, Duffy, Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto!
🏰 Sleeping Beauty Castle
The centerpiece of the park, visible from Main Street. This dreamy castle hosts nightly fireworks, parades, and weddings. Inspired by Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, it features towering spires, royal blue rooftops, and classic fairy tale charm. It’s also where you’ll find princesses like Cinderella and Snow White for photos.
🤠 Toy Story Land
Welcomed by a giant Woody statue, this zone is packed with oversized wooden toys and colorful decorations. Don’t miss photos with Woody and Jessie at the Barrel of Fun station!
🔮 Mystic Point & Mystic Manor
This is a must-do attraction. The Mystic Manor is the mansion of Henry Mystic, a quirky explorer, filled with magical artifacts from his adventures. You’re guided by his adorable monkey, Albert, in an immersive ride packed with storytelling and special effects. I loved it so much I rode it twice!
Other Must-Sees at Hong Kong Disneyland
There’s so much more to discover! In just one day, I managed to see:
- Tarzan’s Treehouse
- The Lion King show
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic 3D show
- Grizzly Gulch rides
- Evening fireworks and character parades
Your feet will definitely be tired, but your heart full of magic. If you’re planning a trip to Hong Kong, Disneyland deserves at least one full day on your itinerary. It’s worth every step, every smile, and every snapshot!
